Job Post: Senior Integration Engineer

Journeys Metabolic™ is enabling patients with metabolic disorders to live their fullest life in obesity and T2 diabetes reversal. Our health equity-focused clinical and technical teams have developed the first interoperable, provider-designed behavior modification program for health systems and ACO’s as a bridge from fee-for-service to value-based care. With large language models, we are building unique behavioral archetypes for all patient populations to drive optimal patient outcomes and health system financial outcomes. Journeys Metabolic™, the company born out of the merger of Readout Health and Well-Being, works with the world’s leading health systems and researchers in carb restrictive therapies in a platform aimed at nutrition-related disorders.

With a launch in mid-2023, venture-backed Journeys Metabolic™ is recruiting a Sr Integration Engineer to bring the Journeys Metabolic™ digital program for health systems to life, enabling patients to improve their life. This hands-on role will develop and manage systems integration and data interoperability efforts. Armed with demonstrated healthcare delivery, insurance, or HealthTech experience, this confident creative problem solver will join a talented team of metabolic experts who think with purpose, solely focused on changing the obesity and T2 diabetes epidemic.

The Role

  • Develops, builds, and supports systems integration, API development, and/or functions related to the supportability, maintainability, and extensibility of Journeys Metabolic Platform
  • Partnering with Clinical and Content teams in designing and deploying application code for the platform under Agile principles
  • Supports and advises the planning and execution of the technical roadmap
  • Partner with the device engineering team to create unified, operational, and scalable platform capabilities
  • Serves as a mentor and leader for junior team members
  • Contribute current knowledge and future vision of how technology and systems will enable business strategy, growth, and competitive positioning for Journeys Metabolic applications
  • Development, management of data DevOps processes, data interoperability programming, third party system integrations (such as electronic health record systems), using FHIR and other frameworks

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related area, or a minimum 7 years of direct full-stack engineering with increasing complexity
  • 3-5 years working in diverse environments utilizing Agile principles of software development
  • Senior level experience with Hyperscale Cloud Environments and their configurations (AWS preferred)
  • Understanding of healthcare specific considerations for security such as HIPAA and HITRUST strongly desired
  • 4 years of experience creating, interacting, and maintaining secure APIs and working with 3rd party SDKs
  • Expert knowledge of data integration tools/applications (e.g., SMART on FHIR, CDS Hooks, SSIS, SSRS)
  • Strong experience with integrations (HL7, FHIR, EDI) to enterprise environments including EMR/EHR systems
  • Proficient in at least one EDI enabling programming language

  • This person must have the ability to promote and explain technology initiatives to business leaders outside of the technology organization and to external partners and customers
  • The selected individual must combine a solid technical foundation with forward-looking strategic skills to help develop an integrations strategy
  • Ability to think beyond the technology itself and will understand key business drivers that ensure technology investment will provide substantial value or improvements to customers
  • Addictive learner and highly curious about human performance and nutrition’s role in chronic disease • Experience programming in C, C++ or device firmware development
